I am happy, loving life and I AM IN CONTROL!!

All of my life I have constantly struggled with my weight. At 27 years old, weighing my heaviest at 277 pounds and wearing a size 22 pant, I knew my health and quality of life was rapidly decreasing. After attempting and failing with numerous weight-loss regimens, I preceded with one of the hardest, yet most rewarding, decisions of my life.

On October 20, 2009-I was REBORN!! Dr. Martin and the Central Carolina Surgery team performed Gastric Bypass surgery and gave me a second chance at living a long, healthy life with my supportive husband and our two small children.

The past year of my life has been full of exciting changes, both physically and mentally. I no longer complain of chronic knee, foot and back pains. I can now engage in family activities without becoming increasingly tired. My devoted determination and the support of family and friends helped me to achieve my goal weight in 8 months. Since surgery, I have lost a total of 115# and 6 pants sizes. I cannot even imagine having to carry all that excess weight around with me again; I have lost a complete person!

I am thankful and most gracious to Dr. Martin and the entire Central Carolina Surgery team for helping me to take back control of my life.
