Pathway to Surgery

It’s as easy as 1,2,3

The surgeons at Central Carolina Surgery recognize that choosing the right procedure will have a significant impact on your life. We would like to help you make the right decision for you, your family, and your lifestyle. The following steps will help guide you through this process.

Choosing weight loss surgery is a very important step to a healthier you.

Step 1:  Attend an Information Seminar

We provide free live seminars several times a month at Wesley Long Hospital as well as at other locations throughout the Triad.  Here you will learn from one of our surgeons about the health risks regarding morbid obesity, the procedures we offer, and the potential risks and complications involved.  You will have the opportunity to hear firsthand patient testimonials, meet some of our team members and ask questions. Register for a Live Seminar today! For those patients that are unable to attend one of our live seminars, we offer an Online Seminar option for your convenience.  Attending one of these seminars is required.  At the end of the seminar or after you have completed an online seminar you will be given a packet with step-by-step instructions.

Step 2: Forms & Insurance Coverage

We are your best resource for dealing with your health insurance.   Because employers who offer coverage vary by state and carrier, we need to verify your individual policy.  After receiving your completed “Patient Profile Form” and a copy of your insurance card(s), our coordinator will verify your insurance coverage for bariatric surgery.  Once we establish that you have weight loss surgery benefits, our coordinator will contact you to schedule an initial consultation with one of our surgeons. We understand your time is valuable and no one enjoys sitting in a waiting room.

Step 3: Initial Office Visit

You will meet with your bariatric surgeon at your initial appointment in our office. Together, you will go over your past medical history, discuss any concerns you may have about weight loss surgery, and decide if surgery for weight loss is right for you. Your surgeon will also determine what medical work-up you will be required to complete before your surgery. You will also meet with the bariatric coordinator to go over items required for insurance approval and schedule your consultation with the psychologist and nutritionist in addition to other tests such as labs and xrays.

We welcome patients from Burlington, Greensboro, High Point, Kernersville, Winston-Salem and nearby communities.
