  • Nutritional consultation (There is a non-refundable $100 processing fee charged by the Nutrition Diabetes Management Center)
  • Psychological consultation
  • Testing necessary to evaluate you for surgery such as labs, upper GI, xrays, and sometimes medical clearance (testing is ordered based on individual need)

Testing necessary to evaluate you for surgery such as labs, upper GI, xrays, and sometimes medical clearance (testing is ordered based on individual need)

The Bariatric Coordinator will communicate all appointment dates/times to you usually at the time of your appointment with the surgeon. Failure to keep appointments will result in surgery delays.

5. Insurance Approval

Once you have completed all your appointments and tests, your documentation will be forwarded to the Bariatric Coordinator to begin the insurance prior approval process. This process can take up to 4 weeks. Please note: The Letter of Medical Necessity form from your primary care doctor must be received by the Bariatric Coordinator prior to your request being sent to insurance. This is an insurance requirement.

6. Preoperative Appointment

Your preoperative appointment with your surgeon will be made after prior approval has been received from the insurance carrier and you have paid your deposit to Central Carolina Surgery.  Normally the appointment will be made for 7-14 days before surgery.

Your deposit (including any co-pays, deductibles, etc) must be paid in full prior to scheduling.  Your surgery will ONLY be scheduled if all financial obligations have been made.   Please remember to keep a copy of all documents for your records.
